From the darkest shadows of the forest surrounding your village, in the deepest sewers in your street, came a sudden strike of daggers, claws and squeaking rabid teeth.
The Splitterfang claw is not the usual skaven claw. Their leader seeks the recognition and the opportunity of stabbing his way to the top of the hierarchy. Hence they are usually deployed to risky tasks of assassination, returning treasures and sabotage. Either Vrik claims victory, or his enemy find the impossible missions that get him killed.
Not every mission is a success, but in an unfortunate chain of events, Vrik hasn’t met the end that his rivals demised. Nor he has reached the opportunity of getting an entire claw of night runners under his command.
Vrik is not alone facing the long story of ill-fated adventures. An adept of the dark and shadowy magics developed in secret by the clan Eshin is always at his side. The sorcerer Quittak Buckfiend has developed a rare relationship with Vrik along the years. They were not claw sibblings but instead commanded to follow the orders of the assassin wannabe. With the amount of dangers but no improvement in their rank he has started to think that his commitment to the claw is a penitence for old failures or a plot from one of his rivals to get him killed or remain stagnant among the Eshin sorcerous commandoes.
Despite the constant infighting, Vrik and Quittak face their mission with absolute resolution and cooperation. Deep in their mind they know that slicing the throat of the other will not help their situation. Instead, getting the job done will eventually give the opportunity to stab a bigger piece between the two “companions”. It is even what could be called friendship among the treacherous skavens.
And that way, the skaven commando take another trip to the streets of Mordheim. To kill a human-thing patrol or two and get a stash of warpstone.
A fun small project I made for dual-use in Mordheim and skirmish games like Frostgrave. I converted some of the clan rats and a plaguemonk for the sorcerer.
I love many of the old miniatures from the skaven lines but Mordheim is one of those exceptions. The multicomponent metal rats and not completely of my kind. That and the large availability of plastics gave me the opportunity to start a skaven claw.
This was one of my first experiments with fluor paints and OSL. Now I have more control and know where and how to apply the white bases for the later fluor painting. In all, I’m happy with this initial experiment and will left it as it is.
Now, I have to find a proper skaven assassin to act as Vrik, complete a 10 rat-man roster for Frostgrave (that will mean paiting one of my greyseers!) and maybe a rat ogre for that Mordheim almost improbable but fun moments when you deploy a monster an cause havoc to your surprised opponent.
Do not forget and fear the
Until then,
Adrian’s out.
